A brave attempt to write a balanced piece. But I think there is a much greater existential threat that isn't really being addressed here. I genuinely believe we are at the apex of a similar moment that reflects the desperation that saw Luddites smashing looms and crop machines. The creative industries that are not " live or improvised in the moment" are fundamentally entering an endgame here. Economists have begun to increasingly agree with what was called for decades the "Luddite fallacy" - that the benefits of automation are not equally distributed. There is a brief flurry of possibility and employment before an entire industry is fundamentally devalued to the point of non existence. Great that we will see a potential growth in theatre, comedy, live music as a counterbalance...but will this remotely outweigh the vast loss that we are sleepwalking into.
